Playing with Magic (Magic Continued)

This page is dedicated to my chosen topic under force.

Above is my cover page/ Second Experiment for 'Magic'. I overlaid a fireball and a magic circle onto the post-it note. I used various layer effects on the fire and circle to make the text and circle embedded into the note, while the flame gained a glowing magic effect. I thought this piece turned out well and that it would be good inspiration for later pieces.

Experiment Number 3

For my next piece I decided with playing with 'Elements' as thats a well used term within magic. One idea about magic is the controlling of what was thought to be the elements. These elements are: Fire, Earth, Water and Air.

I found images of four environmental ideas, each relating to their respective element.

This piece turned out to be more of a Introduction to the idea of elements for me and I feel that it will help me continue with ideas for the Exam Piece.

Experiment Number 4

The Man with the Magic Eye

I took Ideas from a previous brainstorm and started playing with an idea of 'Magical Computers' I decided on trying to convert part of the human body into a magic conduit. The result of the idea came out with 'The Man with the Magic Eye'.

I started out with a base image of half my face.

From here I added various magic circles to act as the 'Screens' and I first decided with a more dull coloured circles to have a more wise effect.

Although I thought it looked good, it didn't really have the most magical colours used. I decided to make a different version, using more vibrant colours on the circles to see how it would look.

I think that the second version looks better with the colours as it gives more of a magical feel to it, however I do not think purple was the best choice for one of the circles as it looks somewhat out of place. The only issue I had with this piece is that it didn't really capture the idea of force as it doesn't have any sense of power.

Experiment Number 5 - BackFired Spell

I decided to play with the idea of a magical backfire. This means the magic would have gone wrong and would have been cast on the user rather than another person. I found this idea interesting as it meant I could show the drawbacks and what can happen with the misuse of force.

I decided to show this with a stop-frame animation, similar to the first magic experiment, except rather than fire I decided I'll use Ice for the spell.

I started by getting a series of Images to use for the animation.

From here I placed them into flash and started creating the stop-frame animation.

For the animation I used a similar style to my first animation as I used the same idea of magic energy which condenses into a magic circle.

This time however I took the improvement ideas from the last animation and used them to improve the newer animation.

This is the Result
